This privacy policy narrates how Knot (us, we, our) uses and collects personal data. Our privacy policy governs your visit to Knot and elaborates on how exactly we safeguard and disclose personal information.
Knot acts as a controller that manages how you interact through different channels, which is used for a variety of purposes. When our customers use our products and services to collect and process personal data for their sales, marketing, and other business activities, Knot acts as a processor. Under the Knot Data Processing Agreement that is part of the Customer Terms of Service, we act as a processor (or service provider) for our customers, who are the ones who control their own personal data.
Knot operates in multiple roles depending on how data is used:
(i) As a Data Controller
We act as a controller when:
You create an account
Use our website or platform
You interact with our support, marketing, or events
In this role, we determine how and why your Personal Data is processed.
(ii) As a Data Processor
We act as a processor when our customers use Knot to:
Schedule meetings
Collect invitee information
Manage communications
In this case, we process data strictly on behalf of our customers, who remain the data controllers.
When the platform is used for organizing meetings, we collect meeting details, basic details of the meeting like duration and no of attendees, and history related to booking.
Our service infrastructure automatically stores significant information such as IP address, device type, log files, page visited, and action taken. Moreover, we also leverage cookies to maintain track of activities and analyze platform usage.
Knot enables users to facilitate and schedule their meetings seamlessly through Google Meet and Zoom. Knot does not keep or control any video, audio, or chat data that is created during meetings on Google Meet or Zoom.
Google's own privacy policies and terms govern how this kind of data is handled.
When users leverage this integration, they are in charge of reviewing and managing the permissions that have been given to their Google account.
Knot uses Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to manage communication-related services.
These communications may include:
Meeting confirmations and reminders
Invitations and scheduling updates
Account notifications and administrative messages
When using SMTP-based email services:
We process necessary data such as email addresses, message metadata (e.g., timestamps, delivery status), and scheduling details to ensure proper delivery
Email content is limited to what is required for the intended communication (e.g., meeting details or notifications)
We do not use email content for unrelated purposes without your consent
Depending on system configuration, SMTP services may be operated via secure third-party providers. These providers process email data solely for delivery purposes and are required to maintain appropriate security measures.
Knot facilitates a reminder and scheduling with Google Calendar.
When you connect your calendar:
Knot fetches the access to your availability (busy/free slots) to prevent scheduling conflicts
We may create, modify, or delete calendar events on your behalf based on your actions
Event details such as title, time, participants, and meeting links may be synchronized
Knot only accesses the minimum necessary calendar data required to provide scheduling functionality and does not use calendar data for unrelated purposes.
Our payment gateway is handled by Stripe; from billing contact details to metadata, everything is handled by Stripe. They may collect your billing invoice and other information based on their privacy policy.
It is suggested to refer to the policy of Stripe for more detailed information; we shall not be held liable for any privacy breach from our third-party payment gateway.
We have strongly emphasized the importance of data security on our platform. However, it is important to understand the fact that there is no such 100% secure electronic data storage to protect your personal data.
We use appropriate safeguards, including:
Encryption in transit and at rest
Secure data centers
Access controls and monitoring
We comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Rights), and you have the following rights.
You can request your personal data
Right to rectify personal information
Recipients of your data

You can file a complaint for data protection if you feel your personal data has been violated

If another company acquires us (or our assets), whether through a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or some other means, that company will get all the information that Knot has gathered on the websites and the Subscription Service.
